How I test and review

Calculators

Every formula lives in its own small piece of code with automated tests. The tests check it against published reference values, such as standard steel section weights or premix bag yields. Each calculator page also explains how it works and where its limits are. The results are designed for planning, so it’s always worth confirming quantities with your supplier and checking local codes.

Product guides

I compare products on what really matters for the job: specifications, duty cycle, warranty, manuals and patterns in verified owner reviews. When I haven’t used a product myself, the guide says so. Brands can’t pay for a spot or a better ranking, and I often recommend products that earn me nothing. Prices change daily, so I link to the retailer instead of quoting one.

Using AI responsibly

I use AI tools to help with research, first drafts and code, the same way I use them in my day job. I review, fact-check and edit every page before it goes live, and I’m responsible for what it says.

Updates and corrections

Each page shows when it was last updated. When a product is discontinued or a fact changes, I update the guide. If you notice something off, tell me. Corrections are always welcome.
